Just like everyone out there these days, I've been getting really in to audio media lately and am interested in starting up my own podcast soon. At present, I'm collecting all the needed materials to make the goal a reality, and a quality microphone was top of the list. Since I don't have much money to invest and my concept requires a lot of 'out in the field' content, I was looking for something relatively cheap and portable. This Memory Mic was exactly what I needed.
First off, the microphone is so small and discreet that it's perfect for tossing in my bag and leaving the house. No more lugging around a big microphone case and cables. It also has a really long internal memory, which only runs out after about four hours. This will be great for long interviews and the like. It's incredibly versatile, and I can place it on a table to pick up omni-directional noise, or pin it to my shirt with the small metal clip. Furthermore, I'm able to adjust the sound sensitivity in three settings.
Perhaps most importantly, the audio quality is astounding. I'd been used to hearing the somewhat scratchy sound quality of recordings on my Android phone, so I was blown away when I used this mic for the first time - it's crystal clear. The Bluetooth connection is easy to set up, and has never dropped out yet.
Because of its small size, it's really easy to misplace (more of a personal problem than anything, really), and I've spent hours scouring my house to find it. The app in the app store has surprisingly bad reviews, and I have mixed feelings about this. One one hand, it's easy to use, functional, and gets the job done. But it also doesn't provide many options for customization of sounds. I was hoping the app would give me the ability to mix my audio in real time, setting the levels and frequencies, but this just isn't possible with this product.
In any case, it's still been a great product and I'm excited to begin using it more down the road. At the end of the day, it offers amazing sound quality for the price. The two year warranty alone is enough to make me feel this is a quality product.
