I like the sound quality and the imaging accuracy of the headphone.
Very good sound quality!
Comfortwise these headphones get full marks. The ear cushions are thick and have a large inner diameter, so your ears have plenty of space. The speakers adjust in angle slightly from front to back, for the best possible fit to your skull. The ear cushions are covered in some sort of soft fleecy material. The headband is also padded, this time with an artificial leather finish. It feels as though the headband has a metal strip inside, but overall these headphones are made from plastic. The upside of that is that they are light. Note that the headphones don't fold at all. You can't even get the speakers/earpad combos to rotate flat. In spite of the appearance, these are open backed headphones. That means that you can still hear sounds from outside, albeit slightly muffled. More importantly, it means that anyone nearby will be able to hear sound from inside the headphones if you're listening at medium or high volume. (It also means your ears probably won't get as hot, if you're in a hot climate as I am.) So I have to give low marks for noise cancellation, but I'm not going to let that affect the overall score because they're open backed so they're not supposed to block or cancel noise. Treble is clear and well reproduced, and bass is solid and well defined too. The bass might be a little overemphasized for a classical music listener, but for my mostly electronic listening it's just about right. The open back design means that the overall sound is more open, more like listening to loudspeakers and less fatiguing. Combine with the amazingly comfortable design, and these are headphones I can happily wear for a couple of hours at a stretch. There's no problem with cable noise or sounds from the joints of the headphones themselves, in spite of the plastic construction. The downside of the open back design is that the sound isn't quite as punchy as you can get with a closed design, and the midrange can become a bit unclear when a lot is going on -- think heavy rock -- with the sound tending towards becoming a wall of noise. Then again, that's compared to closed pro DJ headphones that were twice the price. So overall, the sound quality is about what you'd expect at this price range -- solidly better than an old $80 pair of Sennheisers. Comfort is superb, better than any other headphones I have, so overall I'd rate them as a great first set of hii-fi headphones for in-home listening. Two cables are supplied. One is about a meter long with a 3.5mm jack, for desktop and computer use; the other is a thicker cable with a classic quarter inch jack. Both cables connect to the headphones via a 2.5mm 3-pole jack which has a locking mechanism to prevent it from being pulled out. This is a big improvement over the old proprietary red and white Sennheiser connectors. There's also a 3.5mm jack to quarter inch socket adaptor, but not the reverse. All the connectors are gold plated. (Oh, what does the "Special Edition" mean? As far as I can tell it just means they're black.)
